Main-on-End Title Sequence
Directed by R.J. Cutler
This feature documentary charts the life of Martha Stewart—from her suburban New Jersey roots to becoming a cultural institution.
This was by far the most complex documentary project we’ve worked on, requiring a wide range of skills across design, animation, and project management. We handled archival photo treatments, animated Martha’s personal letters, and designed motion graphics that brought her books, magazines, and media empire to life. Given the sheer volume of visual material—and the precision of Martha’s own aesthetic—every element had to feel intentional and cohesive.
We also created infographic-style animations, timeline transitions, and stylized social media elements to help convey Martha’s impact over time. The main-on-end title sequence extended that same design system—bringing a clean, contemporary close to a film that spans decades of influence.
One of the most rewarding parts of the project was collaborating with Guy Shield, a talented Australian illustrator, to depict key moments from Martha’s life. We directed the illustration work, and handled all of the animation in-house—keeping it simple, so it felt integrated with the rest of the film.
