In this revealing documentary, the world’s most popular plastic doll is reexamined through the lens of culture, history, and fashion.

There’s some lovely filmmaking—an opening sequence in which a handmade Barbie moves from stage to stage, from hair-weaving to lip-painting, is gorgeous.

We produced the main title sequence, special doll sequences, and the end credits.

Process

A significant portion of the work we did for the documentary was to film vintage Barbie dolls in 4K – allowing the filmmakers to show the dolls in exquisite detail.

Mattel generously provided access their doll archive, a shooting stage and a doll stylist.
