Three Months

Main Title Sequence
Directed by Jared Frieder
This colorful main title sequence for Three Months, starring Troye Sivan, gave us the opportunity to design an opening sequence—something that’s become increasingly uncommon in contemporary films.
DP Brett Juskalian filmed Troye on a stationary bike with Smith & Lee taking turns holding up a leaf blower to create the wind effect. Animation was full lo-fi: hand-made textures, loose drawings, bright color, and imperfect lines. It’s the kind of sequence we love to make—playful, character-driven, and embedded into the story itself.
The animation transitions directly out of the live-action prologue and helps introduce both Troye’s character and the film’s setting: Hollywood, Florida.
While our hand-crafted style traces back to Juno (2007), this one was built entirely using Procreate on an iPad Pro and composited in After Effects. Same spirit, new tools.
