Juno

2007 • Fox Searchlight Pictures
Main Title Sequence
Directed by Jason Reitman

Created with over 900 hand-cut, colorized xeroxes of Elliot Page, illustrated backgrounds, and hand-animated typography, the Juno title sequence was a true labor of love. We developed the concept before the film was even shot, giving us the rare opportunity to design a sequence that could transition directly from live action into animation.

Rather than using digital shortcuts, we leaned all the way into analog techniques—printing each frame, outlining by hand, xeroxing (twice), hand-coloring with pencils, cutting with scissors, scanning, and finally compositing the sequence in After Effects.

The result is a lo-fi, handmade visual language that mirrors the spirit of the film itself. It’s become one of our most recognized pieces, and continues to inspire conversations nearly two decades later.
