VFX Supervision, Main Title Sequence and Graphics
Directed by Jason Reitman
Gareth Smith served as Visual Effects Supervisor on Men, Women & Children, helping shape the film’s visual language around technology and communication.
For the main title sequence, we created an animatic that was beautifully realized by Framestore in London.
By opening with Voyager 1 and the Golden Record, the film frames its characters’ private struggles as part of a larger human impulse: the need to be heard, understood, and connected—even when the signals go unanswered.
During pre-production, Jason Reitman asked us to develop a graphic approach to depicting the characters’ digital interactions—texting, browsing, gaming, and more. These visual overlays became an essential part of the film’s storytelling, highlighting how the characters navigate modern relationships through their screens.
We also previsualized and supervised VFX sequences used throughout the film.
